We are looking to appoint a new trustee

Want to make a meaningful impact on the future of work? IFOW is a dynamic and forward-thinking charity that is seeking passionate individuals to join our Board of Trustees and help drive our mission forward. We conduct evidence-based research, advocate for impactful policies, and engage with stakeholders to understand and address the challenges posed by the evolving world of work. Through our innovative approach, we strive to create a future where work is empowering, inclusive, and sustainable.

Responsibilities: As a Trustee, you will play a vital role in shaping IFOW's strategic direction and ensuring our mission is effectively realised.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the Executive team to provide strategic oversight of IFOW's mission, vision, and goals.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of fundraising strategies, identifying potential donors and partners, and leveraging resources to achieve our objectives.
  • Providing advice and support on governance, financial management, and operational matters, working closely with the Executive Director and fellow board members.
  • Actively participating in board meetings, committee meetings, and other essential events.
  • Occasionally representing IFOW at public events, conferences, and media engagements, acting as a spokesperson if appropriate.

Person Specification:

We are seeking individuals who possess the following qualities:

  • Strong commitment to IFOW's mission and values, with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to the future of work.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in relevant fields, such as fundraising, research, policy, business, or communications. Experience in fundraising, particularly in foundation/grant, corporate, or local authority settings, is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with charity boards or other governance structures, along with a solid understanding of governance principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders and the ability to build consensus on strategic priorities.
  • Proficiency in fundraising and resource mobilization strategies, including experience in grant writing and donor engagement.
  • Proven ability to think creatively and strategically, contributing to the development of innovative and impactful solutions to complex challenges.

Time Commitment:

As a Trustee, you will be expected to commit approximately 8 hours per month to IFOW activities, including board meetings, committee meetings, fundraising endeavours, and other relevant events. Trustees are appointed for a term of three years, with the possibility of reappointment for an additional term.

Compensation:

Please note that the Trustee role at IFOW is voluntary and uncompensated. However, reasonable travel expenses and other costs associated with IFOW activities may be reimbursed.

To apply, please submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and interest in the role to team@ifow.org. The application deadline is midday on 25th July.

We are an equal opportunities employer; we firmly believe that diverse teams create better work and as such we welcome a broad range of perspectives, approaches, and backgrounds in applicants.
